A Simple Yes

Hal Hadden simply responded to a request. Armed with a sincere love for Jesus Christ, a relational ministry style, and a knack for developing leaders, Hal was serving with New Life (known today as SEARCH) in Brentwood, Tennessee. The year was 1981.

Hal's ministry at the time equipped couples to reach friends through evangelistic forums called "series." Along the way, some guys asked him for something different: discipleship for men.

Hal gathered twenty-five men for lunch and invited them into a 2-year commitment — weekly 2-hour discipleship meetings, plus in-home work, Scripture memory, and outside reading. It was a steep ask. Hal hoped for four takers.

Eighteen said "Yes!"
